    Kavita Dwibedi

    Daughter and disciple of veteran Odissi maestro, Guru Harekrishna Behera, Kavita Dwibedi was drawn, as though pre-destined, into the profession at the tender age of eight. Over a professional career spanning twenty years, she has proved her mettle with her performances that have been appreciated in national and international festivals in India and abroad. So far in her thirty five years of career She has performed in more than 42 countries.

    She has mastery over all aspects of Dance, that include both technical as well as expressional (Abhinay). As a choreographer, she is known for her choreographic works in both traditional and contemporary themes, for solo and group presentations, the latest being Sati Vrindavati, Jai Maa Yamune, Shiv Panchakshara, and Kalijai to name a few.

    She is Visharad in Odissi Dance from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She is empanelled with ICCR and a top grade artiste with Doordarshan.

    She has been honoured with many awards, which include Odisha State Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 2013, Mahari Award, Sanjukta Panigrahi Award and Mahila Shirimani Award among others.

  • Madhulita Mohapatra
    Madhulita Mohapatra

    Madhulita Mohapatra is an accomplished Odissi dancer and trainer. She has received her Nrutya Acharya from Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar, and Nrutya Shastri from Sangeet Natak Academy.

    Born at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi, Orissa in the year 1978, she started her Sambalpuri folk dance and Odissi in childhood. She began her initial Odissi training under Guru Krushna Chandra Sahoo at Kalahandi Kala Kendra, Bhawanipatna. After completing her graduation, she moved to Bhubaneswar, where she was guided and groomed by Guru Pabitra Kumar Pradhan. Later on she joined Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar and continued her Odissi under the guidance of Padmashri Guru Gangadhar Pradhan and Guru Smt Aruna Mohanty.

    Apart from being a gifted Odissi dancer, she is an excellent Sambalpuri folk dancer, choreographer and performer. She was initiated in Sambalpuri folk dance by Shri Bhimsen Sahoo, Bhawanipatna. She has been performing both Odissi and Sambalpuri dances all over India.

    Madhulita Mohapatra has Masters in Commerce and Business Administration. Presently she is based at Bangalore and running her Odissi school, Charuja Dance Academy at Kasturinagar, near Banaswadi, Bangalore.

    Paridhi Joshi

    Paridhi Joshi started her journey as a classical dancer at the age of 13 years under the able tutelage of Padma Bhushan Guru Smt. Saroja Vaidyanathan at Ganesa Natyalaya, New Delhi. She has trained in the Thanjavur style of Bharatanatyam for over 10 years and presented her Arangetram in 2005 at the age of 19 years in New Delhi. However, it was the lyrical beauty of Odissi dance that attracted her towards it and she joined Nrityantar Academy of Performing Arts & started learning under Smt. Madhulita Mohapatra. It is her innate dancing ability, sincerity & her passion for Odissi dance, that today she is counted among the promising young artistes of the form and she ranked in top ten dancers at the talent search held at the esteemed Odissi International 2015 in Bhubneswar last year.

    Paridhi performs regularly as a soloist and as part of the acclaimed Nrityantar Dance Ensemble and has performed at several prestigious events across the country like Amravathi Nrityotsav, Ranna Vaibhava, Ananya Samarpana, Kalpashree Nruthya Vaibhava, Kalabharathi National Dance Music Festival, Idagunji Rashtriya Natyothsava, Odissi International, Ananya Nruthyollasa among others.

  • Ratikant Mohapatra
    Ratikant Mohapatra

    Since 1975, Ratikant Mohapatra has been surrounded by Odissi dance and music almost every minute of his day. A 40-year association with the field of Odissi and the years of training and experience with his father and guru, late Sri Kelucharan Mohapatra have left their imprint on Ratikant and today, he has carved an enviable niche for himself as a dancer, percussionist, teacher, choreographer, and archivist. As the Director of Srjan (Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Nrityabasa), he has single–handedly created a world-class dance institute, attracting students from all over the globe for a comprehensive and dedicated learning methodology of Odissi dance.

    Ratikant’s dedication to the art form has been acknowledged with the ‘Smt. Sanjukta Panigrahi Samman’ in 2005 by the SanjuktaPanigrahi Trust, the ‘Nrutya Choodamani’ in 2014 by Krishnagana Sabha, the ‘BhumiputraSamman’ in 2016 by Bharat Sevashram Sangha and the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2016, among others. He is also attributed to creating a Guinness World Record for choreographing and directing 555dancers in an Odissi dance composition, the very first of its kind.

  • Sharmila Mukerjee
    Sharmila Mukerjee

    Sharmila Mukerjee was initiated into the Uday Shankar style of dance at the young age of sixteen. Thereafter, Sharmila started learning Odissi under the tutelage of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra from 1984 in Kolkata. She also took lessons in Abhinay from Smt.Kalanidhi Narayan and attended workshops conducted by late Smt.Sanjukta Panigrahi.

    Sharmila initially taught Odissi at Calcutta School of Music. She has worked very closely with hearing impaired children as she taught dance and movement therapy at The Oral School for Deaf Children, Kolkata and choreographed and directed many productions with these children. After moving to Bangalore, she also taught dance at the Sheila Kothwala Institute for the Deaf and for a few years .In the year 2000, she won a scholarship to the University of Michigan ( Ann Arbor) for a period of 3 months where she trained in dance movement and composition. She also did intensive workshops learning dance movement and how to work with hearing impaired children, at the British Council Calcutta, under the guidance of visiting faculty members form Laban Centre, U.K.

    A Grade A artist of Doordarshan and an Established artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Sharmila has performed at various prestigious festivals and conferences in India and abroad in countries like Fiji, Malaysia, Australia , New Zealand, Italy, U.S.A, Indonesia and U.A.E .

    Sharmila has won various awards like the Singar Mani from the Sur Singar Samsad ( Mumbai), the Kala Gaurav from Karnataka, and the Sironama from Kolkata .Sharmila was recently conferred with the prestigious Mahari 2016 Award from the Guru Pankaj Charan Das Foundation ( Orissa) for her contribution to Odissi dance.

    Sharmila Mukerjee is the founder and artistic director of Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance in Bangalore which was established in 2004.

  • Dr. Shreelina Ghosh
    Dr. Shreelina Ghosh

    Dr. Shreelina Ghosh perfected the ancient art of Odissi dance under the guidance of the eminent Odissi exponent, Guru Aloka Kanungo for more than 30 years. She was initiated into the art by Guru Giridhari Nayak at the age of 4. She has also been trained by Guru Ratikant Mahapatra, Guru Sujata Mahapatra, Guru Jhelum Paranjape and Smt. Kavita Dwibedi. Shreelina has learned the nuances of Odissi Classical Music from the eminent Guru Gopal Chandra Panda and is a first-class Visharad in both Odissi dance and Rabindra Sangeet.

    Shreelina has performed in most major festivals in India, including Khajuraho Dance Festival, Puri Beach Festival, India Habitat Center, Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Surya Festival, Kerala; Thalam, Kerala; Swaralaya Nrityotsav, Kerala; Kolkata Dooradarshan Utsav. She performed a number of times on the Indian National Television (Dooradarshan) and on state channels. She has also given many performances in USA.

    Shreelina received "Star of Tomorrow Award" from West Bengal Dance Group Federation, honorable mention at the Excellence in Diversity Awards at Michigan State University for "Artistic Expressions" and felicitation from the Thero at Mahabodi Society of India, Bodh Gaya.

    Shreelina earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Writing from Michigan State University and is currently employed as Assistant Professor of Professional and Technical Communication at Dakota State University.

    Shubhada Varadkar

    Prima Dona in Odissi, Shubhada Varadkar is a Performer, a Choreographer, a Writer, a Guru and a Guide, has taken the divine form of Odissi to transcedental heights. She has blossomed under Guru Padmavibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra.

    Shrimati Shubhada has received prestigious awards like Sringar Mani, Priyadarshini, Maharashtra Gourav, Mahari Award, Kala Ratna award to mention a few and senior fellowship by Ministry ofCulture, Governemnt of India.

  • Sujata Mohapatra
    Sujata Mohapatra

    Sujata Mohapatra started learning Odissi at an early age from Guru Sudhakar Sahu. She went to Odisha in 1987 to further her training under Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra at Odissi Research Center in Bhubaneshwar. Under the tutelage of Kelucharan Mohapatra, her dance style evolved and she was groomed to become one of the foremost Odissi dancers of her generation. Sujata Mohapatra performs in India, and other countries, as a soloist and a leading member of the Srjan Dance Troupe founded by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.

    Sujata Mohapatra is actively involved in teaching Odissi. She is the Principal of 'Srjan' (Odissi Nrityabasa), a prime Odissi Dance Institution founded by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. She holds a master's degree in Oriya Literature from Utkal University, and has done research work at the Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneshwar.

    Sujata Mohapatra has won many awards for her contribution towards Odissi dance. Nritya Choodamani from Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, Sanjukta Panigrahi Award, Aditya Birla Kala Kiran Award to name a few.

    In July 2011, she opened an Odissi Institute - Guru Keerti Srjan, in her hometown Balasore. Top Grade Artist of Doordarshan Outstanding Category Artist in ICCR

  • Surupa Sen
    Surupa Sen

    Surupa Sen was the first student at Nrityagram, where she began her Odissi training with the late body language genius and architect of Odissi, Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. She also studied Odissi with Protima Gauri, founder of Nrityagram, and Abhinaya with Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan.

    As a child she studied Bharatanatyam to which she attributes her pre-occupation with form and line. Attracted to choreography from her first exposure to western makers of dances, she has worked with dancers and choreographers from across the globe.

    For over two decades, Surupa has worked with Bijayini Satpathy to research and expand the dance vocabulary of Odissi dance and together they have developed a style that distinguishes the dancers of the Nrityagram School.

    Surupa has performed, in solo and duet recitals and ensemble, across India and the world.

    She has created five evening-length Ensemble works for Nrityagram - Sri In Search of the Goddess (2001), Ansh (2004), Sacred Space (2006), Pratima: Reflection (2008), Samhara (2012).
